Manadental photodynamic cleaning is based on antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT), a technology used to eliminate plaque bacteria. Bacteria are stained with a dye (photosensitizer) and then activated by light of an appropriate wavelength, leading to their elimination. In addition, manadental achieves positive effects of photobiomodulation (cf. LLLT/red light therapy) through the light source used, which can have cell-regenerating effects and improve tissue circulation. Below you can read about these technologies and the existing study situation. Under the section "Studies", analyses carried out with the manadental product based on the existing study situation are also listed.

02 | investigations

The manadental photodynamic care system to be used is characterized by simple application suitable for home use as an oral hygiene product, targeted irradiation dimensioning, and well-tolerated photosensitizers and/or ingredients. The cornerstones of the process are, on the one hand, the targeted effect of photodynamic treatment, which is limited to the "stained" germs, and, on the other hand, the fact that both photosensitizers and light penetrate areas that are otherwise inaccessible to home dental hygiene.

The "manadental" product, which was developed for the application of photodynamic care, is designed as an innovative instrument for daily oral hygiene and is intended to comprehensively protect and maintain oral health.

To analyze the effectiveness of the "manadental" photodynamic care, series of experiments were carried out in the laboratory (in vitro) and studies (in vivo) with test subjects. The examining institutes were the Institute for Hygiene and Microbiology at the Medical University of Graz and the DakkS accredited research institute Dermatest GmbH, based in Germany.
